Ankara Film Festival – Since 1988 till now
Ankara Film Festival has invested in the future generations of National Cinema since the beginning. Its primary goal is to discover and support new names who will shape the future of Turkish Cinema. In this context, long, short, documentary films with qualified juries; evaluated numerous domestic productions ranging from experimental to animation. In addition to the World Cinema Selection, it did not neglect short films and brought its audience together with countless international films and artists every year. It has also been an encouragement in other fields that support the art of cinema, such as Caricature, Poster Design, Film Story competition. It has also hosted a variety of exhibitions ranging from illustration and photography to 'video-art'. On the other hand, within the framework of the festival, panels, workshops, conferences were organized in various fields ranging from history to sociology, from women's issues to sectoral issues, and contributed theoretically, academically and practically. The aim of the different workshops carried out is not only to provide practical experience. It has made art accessible to different age groups ranging from children to young people and even retirees. The festival brought together artists and the public every year, creating a synergy that spreads across the city.
German – Turkish Youth Bridge Short Film Workshop 2017
Youth Bridge Turkey–Germany (German-Turkish Youth Bridge) “Get Involved! Within the scope of the “Creative Methods in Youth Exchange” Project, in partnership with the World Mass Media Research Foundation and IBZ Essen gGmbH (Intercultural Education Center), a meeting was held with 10 young people from Germany and Turkey in Dortmund, Germany, between 19 November-28 November 2017. A short film workshop was held. The event aimed to inform 10 participants from Germany and 10 participants from Turkey, aged 18-29, about making short films in a 7-day course. This way, the participants who will take part in the project have also experienced filmmaking in an international environment. Considering the importance of being nurtured in an intercultural atmosphere in the field of art and cinema, exchanging ideas and establishing future partnerships, young people who gain this advantage will share the experience and knowledge they have gained here into their lives.
Media and Communication Network Project for the Environment – 2015
In this project, which aims to support the rapidly increasing environmental awareness in recent years and received support from the European Union, workshops were held in five cities in the Black Sea region (Zonguldak, Samsun, Ordu, Trabzon, Artvin, Rize). Media workers and various NGOs of the region as well as independent media users participated. The workshops cover all the provinces of the Black Sea region. Our web portal, which will be prepared after the training of our experts who are competent in their fields in the morning workshops, and after the workshops that last until the evening hours, that aims to be a news portal where all professional and non-professional journalists living in the Black Sea can present the environmental problems they experience in their regions to large masses. Our project, which aims to support the increasing citizen journalism movement in our country as well as the world, will contribute to the awareness of the people of the region that they deserve in this area, and a documentary will be shot on the subject in terms of the continuity of environmental awareness. Our aim is to inform our people of the region about internet journalism and to enable them to follow the news flow on news and video sharing sites, which are defined as new media, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Youtube, and even to reach the position of news source, informer/giver and become active users. .
SineBellek – 2014
Memory/memorylessness/resistance to memorylessness: Based on the memories of the faithful spectators and festival organizers of the Festival, an excellent program has been created for SineMelek by adding the films that you always wanted to see to a selection of the most popular films screened in past Festivals. In a sense, SineBellek, is to share the "memories" of the Festival with the audience. As the most important feature of the SineMemory screenings, a movie was screened and analysed twice a week, on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, by academics, film critics and directors.
Athens Turkish Films Week - 2014
In the 100th Anniversary of Turkish Cinema: The foundation brought together the actors and directors of the films with the audience during the event, during which the legendary masterpieces of Turkish Cinema, the award-winning examples of the New Turkish Cinema, as well as the classic films of the Turkish Cinema, were shown. The interest of the audience and the embrace of Turkish and Greek filmmakers were highly praised by the Greek press in the screenings held in the two historical halls of the Greek Film Archive and Film Museum Tainiothiki. In the 100th Anniversary of Turkish Cinema, within the scope of Athens Turkish Films Week, two legendary actors of our cinema, the leading actor of the movie Bride, Hülya Koçyiğit and the lead actor of the movie Selvi Boylum Al Yazmalım, the Sultan of Turkish Cinema Türkan Şoray met with the audience after the screenings. In addition, Mahir Günşıray, Saadet Aksoy, Nazan Kesal, Ercan Kesal, Maryam Zaree and Director Tayfun Pirselimoğlu, the valuable actors of Turkish Cinema, met with the audience after the screenings and answered the questions. On the occasion of the 100th Anniversary of Turkish Cinema, an exhibition with the theme "Turkish Cinema 100 Years Old", consisting of posters of 40 important masterpieces of Yeşilçam between 1924 and 2014, were presented to moviegoers at the Tainiothiki cinema, where the Film Week was held.
Tehran Turkish Film Week – 2012
With the event held in Tehran, the capital of Iran, it was ensured that the distinguished examples of Turkish Cinema met with the Iranian audience. Due to this event, relations were established with various cinema establishments and official institutions and organizations, and an environment was created for joint work with these relations.
Cinema Meeting with Countries That Are A Member of TÜRKSOY – 2011
12 countries and many guests were brought together at this meeting, which was held in parallel with the 22nd Ankara International Film Festival events. Issues such as common problems in cinema, bilateral works, film distribution and sales conditions, fundraising for co-production were discussed, and common solutions were tried to be found. The guests, who were involved in the cinema industry of the participating countries, representatives of cinema institutions and official representatives, also had the opportunity to watch and evaluate the outstanding examples of Turkish Cinema in the program of the 22nd Ankara International Film Festival.
Kazan Turkish Films Week – 2009,2010
Kazan Turkish Films Week, which was held twice, was organized in parallel with the Golden Mimber International Film Festival events held in Kazan, the capital of Tatarstan. The directors and actors of Turkish films, as well as film writers from the press, who were included in a special selection prepared to be the guests of both the Golden Mimber International Film Festival and Kazan Turkish Films Week, were taken to Kazan. Representatives of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, artists and filmmakers came together with representatives of cinema organizations, universities, the press and the Tatarstan Ministry of Culture and held various meetings. The event, which was prepared to promote Turkish cinema in this country, to create co-production conditions, to establish relations for cultural cooperation and to develop existing relations, achieved its purpose, and preliminary negotiations were held for some co-production conditions with the relations established during the event. Those who undertook the organization of the Golden Mimber International Film Festival and the important filmmakers of Tataristan were invited to the Ankara International Film Festival, where an environment was created for the promotion of Turkish Cinema.
Detmold Turkish Films Week – 2007,2008
Turkish Cinema samples selected for Detmold Turkish Week held in Detmold, Germany in 2007 and 2008 were presented to German and Turkish audiences for a week. During this event, special meetings were held with the filmmakers from Turkey regarding the promotion of Turkish Cinema, and positive impressions were created.
Oberhausen Short Film Festival – 2008, 2010, 2012
The DVD of special selections prepared for international festivals and short film screenings was sent to the important festivals of the world and attracted great attention. Festivals requested the next films of the directors of the short films included in this selection, and the foundation team that prepared the selection was invited as guests to important short films abroad to provide information on Turkish Short Films.
Turkish Cinema Days - 2007
In this event that took place in Ankara, with the help of the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism many Embassies, representatives from other countries, foreign press and foreign students living in the city came and participated. With the aim of introducing Turkish Cinema to foreign people who live and work in Turkey, recent Turkish Films were screened with English subtitles.
