From Oscar-winning director Richard Linklater, this elegant black-and-white feature recreates the electric creative process behind the legendary Breathless, channeling the youthful energy of the French New Wave itself. It is the spring of 1959. Jean-Luc Godard, not yet thirty, takes the director's chair, declaring, "The best way to criticize a film is to make one." With the support of his Cahiers du cinéma colleagues, François Truffaut and Claude Chabrol, he transforms a low-budget gangster story into a cinematic revolution. New Wave is a love letter not only to Godard but to the very idea of freedom in filmmaking and the dizzying courage of creation.

Eklektik filmografisi ve deneysel anlatım tarzıyla tanınır. “Slacker” (1990), meşhur üçlemesi “Before Sunrise/Sunset/Midnight” ve 12 yılda tamamladığı Oscar ödüllü “Boyhood” (2014) gibi filmleriyle tanınır. Richard Linklater (1960, USA) is one of the most important directors in American independent cinema. He is known for his eclectic filmography and experimental narrative style. His notable films include “Slacker” (1990), his famous “Before Sunrise/Sunset/Midnight” trilogy, and the Oscar-winning “Boyhood” (2014), which was shot over 12 years. New Wave (2025) and Blue Moon (2025) are the director’s latest features.
